Valuation & Litigation

Our valuation and litigation services are designed to provide credible, relevant solutions to difficult financial problems, including: calculating the market value of a business or estate; resolving disputes related to divorce litigation, partnership dissolutions, corporate buy-outs and estate and gift taxation; allocating a business acquisition price among assets; and estimating the value of a partner's ownership for purchase agreements. We work directly with individuals, business entities and attorneys to provide reliable and timely services.

Sponsel CPA Group's valuation services range in scope from specific calculations of value (applying a single method or formula) to comprehensive valuation engagements (an all-inclusive analysis of the various value drivers). These services can be useful in determining the value of an entire business, a partial ownership interest in a business or a particular asset (i.e. goodwill in a fair value measurement engagement).

We routinely value businesses, partial business ownerships and assets for actual transactions between a buyer and seller; estate, gift and income tax compliance, or planning and litigation related to:

  • Marital dissolution

  • Estate, gift and income tax planning and compliance

  • Mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations and buyouts

  • Structuring of stock restrictions and buy/sell agreements

  • Bankruptcy

  • Shareholder disputes (dissent/oppression/dissolution)

Our litigation services cover an array of financial issues. We routinely serve as consulting or expert witnesses in cases involving the determination of economic damages (i.e. lost profits, diminution of business value, contract damages or unjust enrichment), forensic accounting and fraud examination.

  • Expert witness testimony

  • Economic damage analyses

  • Lost profits and/or business value

  • Breach of contract

  • Fraud and forensic accounting investigations

  • Income analysis (child support)
